Summit To Surf

This is a picture of Yvette and I with our bikes at Timberline Lodge. In late July Yvette and I rode the Summit To Surf ride. We started in Welches, OR and climb 4500 ft up to TImberline Lodge on Mt Hood (el 6000ft/1828m), descend back to Government Camp, climb up to Bennet Pass, and finally coast all of the way down to Hood River, OR. Total distance was about 70 miles. We had intended to do the 100 mile route but the last 30 mile out-and-back portion of the ride was closed due to wild fires in the area. It’s a great hill climb and we both felt really good that day. Yvette climbed to Timberline Lodge like it was nothing. The first time I did it I thought I was going to die before I made it. We have a certain affinity for Timberline Lodge…it’s where we got engaged…on Valentine’s Day..in a blizzard.
