Redfern Place

After years of saying that I would build a dining room table, I’ve finally started. It’s going to take a while I think, but I’m making good progress. The table, in it’s normal configuration will be 84″x50″ and seat 4 people with lots of room. When I’m done, it will expand to 12′ and seat 12 people comfortably. At least that’s the plan… The table top is constructed from solid eastern cherry and will be just over 1″ thick. I’m in the process right now of flattening the table tops halves using a my smoothing plane, cabinet scrapers, belt sanders and a scraping plane (that hopefully will arrive soon ) I’m not planning to build the chairs for this table…
